Retail Frauds

Detroit man arrested for stealing condoms

Bloomfield Township police arrested a Detroit man who was caught allegedly stealing several items, including $250 worth of condoms from last week.

Andre Drullatt, 47, is charged with one count of first-degree retail fraud, a felony. He remains in the Oakland County Jail on $250,000 bond, records show.

Officers responded to the store after employees reported a retail fraud just occurred at about 8 a.m. on May 4, reports said. Store security said the man was seen concealing several items on his person, including the large amount of condoms. Drullatt was allowed to leave the store, but was confronted by security in the parking lot.

Reports said he turned over all the merchandise to the security and continued to walk south on Woodward Avenue before officers arrived. They found him a short time later and arrested him without incident.

Same shoplifter suspected in multiple thefts

A savvy shoplifter stole two tablet computers from the Bloomfield Township last week, according to reports.

Officers responded to the store at about 12:30 p.m. on May 4 after a manager reported that customer was seen cutting the security cords to two tablet computers and concealed them in his clothing. The man left quickly before store security could confront him and it appeared the thief had a electronic device that disabled the audible security alarm connected to the merchandise, reports said.

Investigators are working with the Auburn Hills Police Department, which reported a similar incident at a Staples in their jurisdiction recently. The man is described as black, 6-feet-tall, 170 pounds, and about 35 years old.

Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to call the investigations division at 248-433-7752.
