Police Blotter: Shoplifting, Auto Larcenies, Burglaries Reported

This following information was supplied by the Bloomfield Township Police Department and the Beverly Hills and Bloomfield Hills Departments of Public Safety. Arrests, where they are mentioned, do not indicate conviction.

Bloomfield Township

Shoplifting

Bloomfield Township police are investigating two separate shoplifting incidents at local stores over the past week.

The first incident was reported at , where a suspect took four bottles of alcohol valued at about $124 from the store without paying about 2:40 a.m. Feb. 18, reports said. The man, who was described as being about 45 years old, entered a mid-1990s white sedan that fled the scene.

Officers also responded to  about 10:20 a.m. Feb. 19 after employees reported someone posing as a shopper stole two televisions. Employees said a man placed two Samsung televisions into a shopping cart and exited the store without paying. He then quickly loaded the televisions into a gray Chevy Impala waiting outside that was driven by a woman. The TVs were valued at $399 each.

Police reports said the license plate of the vehicle was covered by a sheet of paper. The man who took the TVs is described as about 25 years old and wearing a blue and gold University of Michigan jacket.

Larceny from auto

  • Another purse was taken from a vehicle parked outside the L.A. Fitness, police reports said. Officers were called to the parking lot just before 6 p.m. Feb. 16 after a member returned to her vehicle and found a window broken and her purse missing. The department has investigated , at the business since December.
  • The windows to two vehicles parked outside  were also smashed Feb. 16, police said. Purses with cash, credit cards, gift cards and jewelry were taken. Both incidents occurred between 6-7 p.m. Police said some of the stolen items were found the next day in the parking lot of just down the road. No suspect information was available.

Home invasion

Officers were called to the 26000 block of West 14 Mile Road shortly before 6 p.m. Feb. 17 for a residential break-in, reports said. The suspect or suspects entered through an unlocked door and took several electronic items and clothing. The theft is believed to have occurred sometime between 7:30 a.m. and 5:45 p.m. that day. No suspect information was available.

Beverly Hills

Home burglary reported

Officers with the Beverly Hills Department of Public Safety are investigating a residential burglary reported Friday morning.

Officers responded to a burglar alarm at the corner home on Marimoor and Coryell streets about 10:40 a.m. and found the rear patio door open, according to reports. The patio door had a slide latch that was engaged, but the door appeared to be manipulated. A laptop computer and flatscreen television were taken. The homeowner told officers some rooms appeared untouched.

Police followed two sets of foot tracks in the snow around the home, but no suspect information was available.
