Police Find Brass Knuckles, Stolen Credit Cards on Detroit Woman

Lateresa Wilson faces five felony charges stemming from her arrest on suspicion of drunken driving in Bloomfield Township.

A Detroit woman with a criminal history faces five felony counts ranging from operating while intoxicated to possessing outlawed brass knuckles following from her arrest over the weekend, Bloomfield Township Police reports said.

Lateresa Wilson, 32, was arraigned Monday on counts of OWI, identity theft, possession of a dangerous weapon, driving with a suspended license, and operating a vehicle with false identification in 48th District Court, records show. She was immediately ordered to the Oakland County Jail on $25,000 bond, but jail records show she posted the bond on March 19.

Officers arrested Wilson after witnessing her run a red light at the intersection of Telegraph and Long Lake roads shortly after 1 a.m. on Saturday, reports said. After stopping the vehicle, officers learned the 2013 Dodge Durango's registered owner from Ontario, Canada reported it stolen recently from a Detroit casino. They arrested her immediately without incident, and determined she was also intoxicated, the report stated.

Police said they found a pair of brass knuckles, which are illegal in Michigan, and four stolen credit cards in her possession. The case remains under investigation.

Court records indicate this is not Wilson's first run-in with authorities. She was arrested in February 2010 for receiving and concealing stolen property-motor vehicle and was scheduled to go to trial in Oakland County Circuit Court that July. However, she did not show up and the judge issued a bench warrant for her arrest.

Records indicate she was arrested shortly after the scheduled trial date and remained in the Oakland County Jail awaiting trial until authorities reduced her bond in January 2012. She pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of receiving and concealing stolen property less than $1,000 last May, and was sentenced to one year in jail. The judge granted her time served, records show.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled next week and an attorney will be appointed to the case.
