Police: Minors Cited at Bloomfield Township House Party; Paintings Stolen From Basement

Bloomfield Township

Officers with the Bloomfield Township Police Department issued multiple citations for underage drinking and drug possession after breaking up a house party last week, reports said.

Neighbors in the 6200 block of Indianwood Trail called police just before midnight on Nov. 30 for a possible party involving minors. Officers responded and spoke to some teens they saw in the area who confirmed a party with alcohol was under way. They asked to enter the home, but were denied, and then came back with a search warrant, reports said.

Once inside the home, officers found four 17-year-old boys in possession on alcohol. They cited three with being minors in possession turned them over to family members or guardians, police said. The fourth teen — who lived at the residence — was cited for hosting an open house party, and was turned over to his attorney on scene.

Police also cited the two teens police detained outside the party with marijuana possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, and being minors in possession, reports said. Court dates are pending.

Attempted Home Invasion

A resident in the 4000 block of Chimney Point arrived home and found heavy damage to a door on Nov. 29, police reports said. No entry was gained due to a deadbolt lock on the door. Detectives canvassed the neighborhood but could not develop a description of the suspect or suspects. The incident remains under investigation.

Bloomfield Hills

Paintings stolen from home

Officers with the Bloomfield Hills Department of Public Safety are investigating the theft of two original paintings from the basement of a home in the 100 block of Beresford Court on Nov. 29, reports said. The homeowner told police that the paintings were taken sometime between Sept. 2008 and when they were discovered missing last week.

Individuals may have had access to the area they were stored in due to extensive renovations at the home at the time. No suspect information was available.

Larceny reported

A woman told police her wallet was taken from her backpack in the 39000 block of Woodward Avenue on Dec. 1, report said.

The wallet was inside her backpack, which was next to her desk, but she discovered it was missing when she went to use it at about noon. The wallet contained her driver's license, credit cards and other sensitive personal information.

The woman contacted her bank and credit card companies and learned there was no suspicious activity associated with her accounts. No suspect information was available.
