Retail Fraud at Dick's Sporting Goods; Items Taken From Unlocked Vehicles

The Bloomfield Township Police Department provided the following information.


Detectives with the Bloomfield Township Police Department are investigating the theft of several winter coats from Dick’s Sporting Goods. Officers responded to the store on the township's north side for a retail fraud report n Dec. 22 and learned about a man who entered the store and asked several questions about some merchandise.

A short time later, he grabbed an armful of North Face coats and ran out the main entrance. The suspect was seen leaving in a Grey Ford Focus.  
The value of the coats was undetermined in the report, and no physical description of the suspect was made public.

Officers also responded to a report of a larceny from vehicle's report during the early morning hours of Dec. 18.  According to reports, the victim said he left the vehicles unlocked overnight outside his home in the 500 Block of Fox River Drive, and someone had entered them and took garage door openers and money.  

No suspect information was available, and the case has been turned over to the detectives for follow up.

Department officials reminded residents to make sure their vehicles are locked overnight and to take any valuables inside with them.
