Five Things to Know About This Week

What's happening in the Bloomfield area.

 

It’s a shortened, holiday-hangover kind of week, but there are some things you should know about the days ahead.

1. Trash collection delayed: Due to the Fourth of July holiday, trash and curbside recycling collection in Bloomfield Township will be delayed one day this week.

2. Painting at Cranbrook Gardens with Leslie Masters: Join Leslie Masters in one of Bloomfield's most beautiful places and learn how to capture the essence of the Cranbrook Gardens. Participants will travel from the , 1516 S Cranbrook Rd. in Birmingham, to the gardens for day-long sessions on July 5 and 6. The price is $60 for BBAC members and $100 for non-members.

3. Summer nights concert series at Detroit Zoo: Bring a blanket and pack a picnic basket to enjoy while the Wild Summer Nights Concert Series returns with Stewart Francke and His Band from 6:30–8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the , 8450 W 10 Mile Rd. in Royal Oak. The event is free with zoo admission and is open to all.

4. All American Game Day at the library: The Bloomfield Township Public Library will host All American Game Day from 2-4 p.m. Wednesday. Children of all ages will convert the library's Youth Services Center to a game room that offers fun with hula hoops, horse shoes, bean bags and more.

5. The Bloomfield Township Board of Trustees will meet in a special study session at 8 a.m. Thursday to discuss appointing a replacement for retiring Supervisor Dave Payne. The meeting is scheduled for two hours in the conference room on the upper level of township hall.
