Five Things You Should Know About This Week

Bloomfield Hills commissioners will discuss a tentative agreement with Baldwin Public Library, and the school district seeks community input on proposed high school consolidation concepts.

  1. The Bloomfield Township Board of Trustees meets at 7 p.m. Monday at Township Hall. The board will consider a special land use permit for DePorre Veterinary Hospital, consider a fireworks permit for Wabeek Country Club and continuation of the Oakland County Urban County Community Development Block Grant.
  2. The Bloomfield Hills City Commission meets at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall. On the agenda are resolutions for a tentative agreement with the Baldwin Public Library on a three-year deal for service; water and sewer rates taking effect July 1; and planned unit development agreements for The Woodward at Bloomfield Hills and the Plaza of Bloomfield Hills.
  3. The Bloomfield Hills Schools will host a public input meeting of the proposed high school consolidation concepts from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Bloomfield Hills Middle School, 4200 W. Quarton Rd. District consultant Fielding Nair International will have representatives there to discuss and answer questions.
  4. The Bloomfield Hills Schools Board of Education will meet for a study session at 5 p.m. Thursday at the Doyle Center for Professional Development at Booth School, 7273 Wing Lake Rd. That meeting will be followed by a regular board meeting at 7 p.m. The board will consider Superintendent Rob Glass' recommendation for one high school on two campuses starting in the fall of 2012. Meetings are televised and streamed live on the Web.
  5. The Birmingham Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce will host Business After Hours from 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday at the Skyline Club in the Town Center in Southfield. Enjoy the view  from the 28th floor while mingling with chamber members and guests from the Birmingham Bloomfield Chamber and Southfield Area Chamber. Appetizers are included, and there will be a cash bar. Cost is $10 for members of the respective chambers and $20 for nonmembers or walk-ins. Those interested can register here for the event.
