Five Things You Should Know About This Week

School is out, and both the Bloomfield Hills City Commission and the Bloomfield Township Library Board will discuss ongoing issues with the Baldwin Public Library at separate meetings.

1. High schools finish with final exams

It will likely start to get a little more crowded on area roads, local malls and eateries as students at Bloomfield Hills Andover and Lahser high schools finish the school year with final exams Monday and Tuesday. On Monday, tests for second-hour students begin at 7:30 a.m. and end at 9 a.m. Seminar finals run from 9:15-10:15 a.m., and fourth-hour exams will be administered from 10:30 a.m.-noon. Dismissal is at noon.

On Tuesday, first-hour finals are from 7:30-9 a.m. Dismissal is at 9 a.m., and buses leave at 9:15 a.m. Any make-up exams will be from 9:15-10:45 a.m. Then students are free.

2. Township Planning Commission to discuss zoning ordinance

The Bloomfield Township Planning Commission meets at 7 p.m. Monday at the Township Hall. On the agenda is a public hearing for proposed amendments to the township zoning ordinance that relate to the Design Review Board regulations.

3. Hills City Commission to discuss Baldwin Library, city manager evaluations

The Bloomfield Hills City Commission meets for a work session from 7:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall. The pending agreement with the Baldwin Public Library and city manager evaluations are on the agenda.

4. 'Get the Scoop,' steel band kick off summer

The Bloomfield Township Public Library will host a “Get the Scoop” party from 3-5 p.m. on the Youth Terrace. Visitors can enjoy kicking off summer while getting a scoop of ice cream and dancing along with the Gratitude Steel Band, which begins performing at 3:30 p.m. No registration is required, and festivities will move indoors in case of rain.

5. Township library board may discuss policy on privileges

The Bloomfield Township Public Library Board meets from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in the John L. Rumsey board room. The board is likely to discuss any recent developments regarding its policy to rescind library privileges to all contract communities on July 1. The Baldwin Public Library Board recently sent a letter urging them to reconsider.
