McCready Named OCC's Outstanding Alumnus

State Rep. Michael McCready, a former Bloomfield Hills commissioner, is this year's honored winner.

State Rep. Mike McCready, R-Bloomfield Hills, will receive special recognition at Oakland Community College’s commencement ceremonies as the winner of the Outstanding Alumnus award for 2013.

The former Bloomfield Hills commissioner, who elected to represent the 40th District in the State House in November, will be honored during the college’s May 18 commencement ceremony at the Palace of Auburn Hills.

McCready is the second consecutive former Bloomfield Hills city official to receive the award. Former Department of Public Safety Director Rick Matott, who retired earlier this month, earned the designation in 2012,

In his first year in the State Legislature, he is a member of the House Appropriations Committee, chairman of the Appropriations Committee on the Michigan State Police and vice chairman of the Appropriations Subcommittee for the Department of Human Services. He is also a member of the House Transportation and House Capitol committees.

McCready graduated from Birmingham’s Seaholm High School and attended Oakland Community College from 1978 to 1981. He then transferred to Western Michigan University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Communications and Business Administration.
