McCready, State House Honor Local First Responders

Members of the Bloomfield Hills Department of Public Safety joined the freshman representative in Lansing.

Members of the Bloomfield Hills Department of Public Safety joined State Rep. Mike McCready as special guests during the third annual 9/11 commemoration ceremony Wednesday in Lansing.

Chief Dave Hendrickson and Lt. Noel Clason were among first responders honored during the 12th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on the House Floor. Clason was among a small group of first responders from Bloomfield Hills that travelled to New York City to assist with the clean-up of Ground Zero the week of the attacks.

“It was an honor to have Lt. Clason and Chief Hendrickson with me today as we paid tribute to these brave men and women,” said McCready, R-Bloomfield Hills. “It is important to remember their sacrifices and thank them for their service.”

The event included an invocation by Rep. Bruce Rendon, the presentation of the colors and acknowledgment of all first responders and their families in attendance. The House also honored the eight military members and first responders from Michigan who lost their lives in the line of duty in the past year.

“As the chair of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Michigan State Police, I have seen firsthand how dedicated our first responders are to protecting their communities and state,” McCready said. “I am grateful for them as well as those who are serving our country in the military.”
