The competition follows strong performances at regionals. Sophomore Diana Holsey, a first-year track athlete, rebroke her own school record for third time this year on her way to becoming regional champ and is seeded third in state and county for all divisions.  The girls 4 x 800 ran well enough to win the region in 10:04, making Perry, Krear, and Roslin first-time qualifiers. Gammons ran her fastest time for 800 in that race as well, assistant coach Beth Sinclair said.

On the boys side, senior Joey Kemeny also qualified for the state finals for the first time despite a mid-season injury.

"He is an incredibly hard worker and clearly has a lot of talent, but what makes Joey such a great runner is the heart he puts into each and every race," Sinclair said. "You can see that look of pure determination and will to win in his face, and it allows him to find that extra gear he needs to take his race to the next level."
