Bloomfield Hills' Claire Beresford Places Third in Auto Show Poster Contest

The sophomore at Bloomfield Hills High School won $100 and tickets to the Auto Show, where her artwork will be on display.

The cars are the main attraction at the 2014 North American International Auto Show, but dozens of Michigan students will have their artwork on display for the global audience in Detroit over the next few weeks.

Including Claire Beresford, of Bloomfield Hills. The sophomore at Bloomfield Hills High School was recently awarded third-place for her poster created for the show in Mrs. Esshaki's graphic design class. All winning entries are posted on the official NAIAS website, and are on display at Cobo Halll during the NAIAS 2014, which opened to the public over the weekend and runs through Jan. 26.

Her entry, created at the beginning of the school year, was among a record 989 submissions from 73 Michigan high schools that were judged by an independent panel of recognized members of the local art community, NAIAS organizers said.

"The contest provides a unique opportunity for students to become involved in the auto show, while gaining experience in creative competition. The students worked very hard and I am very proud of them," Esshaki said in a press release.

This was the contest's 26th year, and not the first time Bloomfield Hills was represented. Elizabeth Sabol, then a sophomore at the former Lahser High School, took home the grand prize of $1,000 at the 2012 show.
