Get a First Look at the New Bloomfield Hills High School Schematic

The Bloomfield Hills Schools Board of Education will review designs for the much anticipated high school tonight at 7 p.m.

Designers of the new Bloomfield Hills High School will unveil the schematics for the unified high school building at a special meeting of the Bloomfield Hills Board of Education Thursday at 7 p.m.

Assistant superintendents Laurie McCarty and Christine DiPilato will show the board and members of the public gathered at the Doyle Center what the new building on the current Andover High School campus will look like, inside and out. Joining them will be representatives from SHW Group, who will present the ongoing development of the site, and construction engineers from Barton Malow.

The exterior design renderings, which are now well developed, will clearly depict how the high school will look, and the interior views will show the large community spaces and a typical 'learning community,' the district's website states.

The meeting will provide the public with the first look of the high school since consultants outlined their initial design last fall. That was six months before the May bond proposal, which voters passed overwhelmingly to fund construction slated to begin as soon as school ends in June. The building should be ready by the fall of 2015.

"It's really exciting, absolutely," said Board Treasurer Cynthia von Oeyen. "It's the first chance to see everything that the leadership team has been working on, and the first full scope at a more-detailed plan for our building."
