Snow Day Declared for Bloomfield Area Schools

Sunday's winter storm prompted officials with Bloomfield-area public and private schools to close Monday.

Students in the Bloomfield Hills Schools, the Avondale Public Schools and surrounding private schools will not return for classes as expected Monday due to Sunday's severe winter storm.

Officials with the districts announced the school closings late Sunday afternoon, as the heaviest snow predicted by the National Weather Service was yet to fall.

Nearby districts in Birmingham, Troy and West Bloomfield are also closed.

The following Bloomfield-area private schools will not have classes on Monday either:

  • Academy of the Sacred Heart
  • Brother Rice High School
  • Cranbrook Schools
  • Detroit Country Day
  • Marian High School
  • Roeper Lower and Upper School
  • St. Hugo of the Hills School
