U-M's David Brandon Talks Attitude At Bloomfield Hills High School

The former corporate CEO and current University of Michigan athletic director spoke about the importance of positive energy Thursday at Bloomfield Hills High School.

University of Michigan Athletic Director David Brandon encouraged students to embrace positive energy and that attitude is everything when it comes to success.

"Never underestimate the power of someone with something to prove," Brandon told roughly 400 juniors at Bloomfield Hills High School Thursday.

The talk was one of three separate visits Brandon carved into the afternoon at BHHS. The school's PTO was instrumental in planning the visit as part of the ongoing team-building effort underway as the transition to a consolidated high school continues, district spokeswoman Shira Good said.

Citing examples of inspirational athletes that he's encountered who persevered great adversity, Brandon said that it's important to meet challenges, and detractors, head-on.

"It's guaranteed there will always be someone that will tell you that you can't or shouldn't do something. That should create power and energy for you."
