Andover Athletes Headed to College Teams

Among the six seniors are school record holders and Bloomfield Patch's Fall Athlete of the Season.

 

Several athletes from recently celebrated their commitments to compete at the collegiate level with their respective colleges and universities next year.

Participating in Andover's signing day were:

Gabe Berman

  • Sport: Baseball
  • School: Western Michigan University
  • Highlights: 2012 East-West All Star Game at Comerica Park; All-region and district honors in 2011; 2nd Team All America Honorable Mention. 

Jarred Bratley

  • Sport: Track and Cross Country
  • School: University of Michigan
  • Highlights: Captain of both Track and Cross Country teams; two-time regional champion in cross country and track; league champion in cross country and track; All-county cross country; Academic All-State; All-State Indoor Track; 2nd on Andover's all-time record board in the 5K.

Max Elder

  • Sport: Football
  • School: Hope College
  • Highlights: Two-year varsity team member; Two-time O.A.A. Gambreaker honor; Two-time O.A.A. Scholar Athlete.

Will Neef

  • Sport: Soccer
  • School: Northwood University
  • Highlights: Team MVP 2012; four-year varsity team member; 1st team all-league and all-district honors as junior; 1st team all state honors as senior; four-time O.A.A. Scholar Athlete;

Alexis Sinclair

  • Sport: Track and Cross Country
  • School: Amherst College
  • Highlights: All-State in 3200m; four-time Academic All-State; two-time regional champion; 10-time All-Region honors; 10-time League Champion; four-time varsity team captain and six-time team MVP; three-time All-County honors; school record holder in 3200m (11:04); 2nd overall on Andover all-time record board in 5K.

Brody Wagerson

  • Sport: Wrestling
  • School: Marion Military Institute
  • Highlights: Three-year member of varsity wrestling team; two-time league wrestling champion; two-time state qualifier; ; two-year member of varsity football team.

We know this is just a sample of the athletic and academic prowess these athletes have shown this year and throughout their high school careers. These young people have not only been outstanding high school athletes, but they have also been exemplary students and role models for their peers. We couldn't have asked for better representatives of Andover High School and the Bloomfield Hills community. Congratulations to each of them and best of luck in the coming years!! RJG

With such miscalculations on my part, I realize that the majority of the voters had so much more insight than I had........lol Maybe I should learn a lesson here - borrow money to keep the "life-style" I have become used to.
