Bloomfield Hills Black Hawks Football Featured as Channel 7's Game of the Week

More than 50 percent of ballots cast in the online poll went to the first-ever Bloomfield Hills High School football game.

Fans of the new Bloomfield Hills High School Black Hawks and the Birmingham Groves Falcons and made Friday's inaugural game between the nearby town rivals the Meijer Game of the Week on WXYZ Channel 7.

Roughly 51 percent of the vote tallied on the station's website from Monday morning through Wednesday night went toward that game after a strong push on social media by the Bloomfield Hills Schools and excited Black Hawks fans.

The varsity game begins at 7 p.m. on Dauch Field, behind the former Lahser High School, which is now known as the main campus for the new Bloomfield Hills High School.

Channel 7 sports reporter Brad Galli will report live from the winning game during news broadcasts at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. on game day, and highlights of the game will be shared on the 11 p.m. news.

The matchup did not fare as well on Channel 4's 'Friday Football Frenzy' feature, but took second place behind Detroit Consortium and Dearborn Divine Child.
