Lahser's Nate Cole Named Football All-Star

The senior defensive back caps off stellar season with well-earned distinction for play on the gridiron.

 

Nate Cole can add all-star to the list of praiseworthy titles he earned during a standout season in varsity football. The senior defensive back, , made the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association's all-star roster for the East-West All-Star game on June 30 at Central Michigan University.

Both teams are made up of 44 of the best high school football players around the state. Cole will play for the East team, coached by Mike Giannone of Macomb Dakota High School.

Cole earned all-OAA honors, selected by league coaches, in November along with six teammates after the Lahser's 6-4 playoff season. The team lost 28-7 in the first round of playoffs at Redford Thurston.

He was a key piece to the Knight's 3-0 start, which included a The senior returned a fumble 65-yards for a touchdown and intercepted two passes in the contest.

“Unbelievable,” Head Coach Dan Loria told Patch after Cole’s performance. “He’s prepared himself since he’s came to Lahser. You know how there are football players? He’s a football player. He’s just always around the ball.”

Game time will be announced by the MHSFCA this spring. Tickets are $5 in advance and will be available at www.mhsfca.com on May 15, and $10 at the gate.
