Marian Tops Andover; Faces West Bloomfield For District Title

The Mustangs dispatched the Andover Barons Wednesday, and will try to win the district title at home Friday.

The Marian High School Mustangs carried the momentum from winning their first Catholic High School League championship in three years by reaching the district championships as the MHSAA playoffs began this week.

Marian ended the Andover Barons' season on their home court 77-35 Wednesday night,  behind Kara Holinski's 16 points, and smothering defense against star guard Shannon Wilson, Miprepzone.com. reported.

Wilson still led the Barons in scoring with 12 points — becoming the highest-scoring player in school history — but it was hardly enough to stop Marian, winners of 10 out of their last 11 games.

Kilyn Bulluck scored 13 and Laura Bruton scored 10 for the Mustangs, according to Miprepzone.com.
