The Week Ahead: Can Lahser Football Make it 4-0?
Brother Rice football and soccer have key games this week.
It's a big week in football and soccer in Bloomfield area schools. Here's a look at what's ahead:
Football
After two straight road games, the Lahser High School varsity football team heads home this week for a matchup against North Farmington at 7 p.m. Friday.
The Lahser Knights will be trying to keep their perfect 3-0 record intact against a North Farmington Raiders team that won its first game of the season week over Hazel Park. Last year, Lahser only won two games and one of those wins came at the expense of North Farmington.

Andover is still looking for its first win on the other side of town.
The Andover Barons lost a 23-20 heartbreaker to Avondale last week and will head to Berkley this Friday at 7 p.m. to play a team that’s looking to rebound from its own tough loss. The Berkley Bears dropped a 38-37 game in double overtime to Birmingham Groves last Friday.

In what could be the game of the week, Brother Rice welcomes Warren De La Salle at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday in a Catholic League Central division game.
Both teams go into the game undefeated at 3-0. The two teams haven’t played a game decided by more than 10 points since 2005. Last year, the De La Salle Pilots won 7-0 in a defensive battle.
Detroit Country Day won its first game of the year last week, but it doesn’t get any easier for the DCD Yellowjackets when they head to Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes at 1 p.m. Saturday. They face a team that is 2-1 and hasn’t had a losing record since 1988.
It will be the first of three straight road games for Country Day.
Varsity Soccer
Brother Rice and Country Day, two soccer teams expecting to make deep runs in the soccer playoffs this year, will play at 7 p.m. Thursday night on the Country Day Yellowjackets' home field.
The teams made it to regionals last season, but both might have more talent on their respective rosters this year.
The Brother Rice Warriors start the week with a division game against University of Detroit Jesuit at 5:30 p.m. Country Day doesn’t play another game during the week, but will play in a tournament at Williamston on Saturday. Time is to be determined.
