Vote Now: Bloomfield Hills Athlete of the Winter Season

Vote from a list of very deserving candidates on who should be named the Patch Athlete of the Season from the Bloomfield Hills area.

The Bloomfield area high schools had a lot of great performances this season. We want to hear from our readers which one they thought was the best.

Be sure to vote by 9 p.m. Friday, April 13. Final results will be posted on Monday, April 16.

Yante Maten; Soph. Basketball – Yante Maten is a beast. The sophomore averaged a double-double during the regular season with 15 points, 12 rebounds and five block shots. He helped lead his team to titles in the Oakland Activities Association Gold division and the district. In the playoffs, he averaged 17 points, 14 rebounds and six blocks.

Shannon Wilson; Soph. Basketball – The sophomore was a honorable mention on the Associated Press Class A Girls First Team. She had a tremendous season, leading the Barons in scoring, assists and steals. She averaged over 14 points per game along with five rebounds and five assists. Wilson also shined in big moments. Brody Wagerson; Sr. Wrestling – The Andover wrestler had a great senior season. At the Palace of Auburn Hills, Wagerson finished the year with a 41-7 overall record. He won an Oakland Activities Association Blue Division individual title and finished second at the Oakland County meet.

Mackenzie MacEachern; Sr. Hockey – Mackenzie MacEachern is a special hockey player. The senior finished the year with 42 goals and 48 assists for an astounding 90 points. He won Mr. Hockey honors, as voted on by the Michigan High School Hockey Coaches Association, and earned Division 2 All-State honors. MacEachern helped lead the Warriors to a state in the semifinals and a goal in a

Joe Abrash; Sr. Swimming – Joe Abrash is leaving Andover as one of the best swimmers in school history. He made the Andover top 10 list for his swimming accomplishments. The co-captain of the Barons team finished All-State in three events at the Division 2 state finals. He finished in sixth place (21.95) in the 50 yard freestyle, seventh place in the 200 yard freestyle relay (1:28.54) and 400 yard freestyle relay (3:14.83). He also competed in the 100 yard freestyle and finished in 13th place (48.44). At the Oakland County Championship, Abrash place in the top 15 in both the 50 and 100 yard freestyle races.
