Who's Your 'Unsung' Detroit Tiger For 2013?

Everyone knows the stars, but the baseball world is now getting a glimpse of those other Tigers whose contributions continue to make a difference this season.

Detroit Tigers fans still smarting over Sunday's loss in Boston can look ahead to Tuesday as the American League Championship Series shifts to Detroit and Justin Verlander takes the hill against John Lackey.

Anybody paying attention knows these Detroit Tigers wouldn't be in the ALCS without the performances of Verlander, Max Scherzer and albeithobbled slugger Miguel Cabrera, who continue to prove they are the best players on the roster.

But every successful baseball team needs those "other" guys to step up, and a manager that can put them in the right spot at the right time. Whether it's Jhonny Peralta's timely hitting, or Joaquin Benoit's ability to close out tight games, several unheralded players are playing key roles in the Tigers' continued postseason.
