Dozens of golfers from around Metro Detroit were among those that helped raise funds for medical assistance in Ethiopia recently during the Faces of Ethiopia Invitational at at the Oakland Hills Country Club.

Dr. Ingida Asfaw, founder of the Ethiopian North American Health Professionals Association (ENAHPA), welcomed the group and thanked them for their efforts to create a worldwide network of more than 1,000 working professionals, students, and volunteers to deliver medical outreach and educate the future of Ethiopia's primary care providers.

Asfaw has served as president of the Michigan Society of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeons, CEO of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeons of Michigan, chairman of cardiothoracic surgery at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland and established the Cardiovascular Surgery Program at Sinai-Grace Hospital in Detroit.
