Last Chance for Friend of the Library

Today, Sept. 30, is the last day to introduce friends and neighbors to the Bloomfield Township Public Library as part of “National Library Card Sign-up Month. Introduce them to the library and all the benefits of having their own library card at the Circulation Desk. Current members that bring new cardholders can enter a drawing for a special library gift bag.

BHS Strategic Planning Meeting

The Bloomfield Hills Schools will host a meeting to review the previous 10-year strategic plan at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, at 7:00 p.m., in the East Hills Middle School cafeteria. During the session, facilitators and members of the public will:
  • Identify progress made in the first five years of executing our Strategic Plan
  • Assess our current situation (threats, opportunities, and efforts)
  • Begin to frame the conversation of “where are we going?” for a second session on Oct. 24 at West Hills Middle School. 

'American Promise' at Roeper

The Roeper School hosts a screening of 'American Promise' at 6 p.m. on Oct. 2 at the Middle/Upper School at 1051 Oakland Ave. in Birmingham. The film explores the racial achievement gap in American schools. The screening is free and will include time for questions with the producers via Skype.

DSO Chamber Music Concert 

A string quartet from the Detroit Symphony Orchestra will perform chamber music from 7-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct 2 at the Baldwin Public Library. This special complementary event is made possible through the support of the Jane Cameron Fund.  The performance will include String Quartet #2 by Alexander Zemlinsky and Lullaby by George Gershwin. The event is free and sponsored by a joint partnership of library and DSO Community Programs funded through the Jane Cameron Fund.

Hazardous Waste Drop-Off

Bloomfield Township encourages residents to participate in the annual hazardous waste drop-off day from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5 at the Department of Public Works parking lot. Proof of residency is required. Items allowed include: paint, motor oils, ammonia-based cleansers, insecticides, fertilizers, mercury thermometers and more.
