What's Open and Closed in Bloomfield on New Year's?

Here's what you need to know if you'll be out and about Bloomfield on New Year's Day.

Municipal services

Bloomfield Township offices will be closed Wednesday and reopen at 7 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 2. The Bloomfield Township treasurer's office will be open Monday and Tuesday for year-end tax collection. Christmas trees can be disposed of by placing them at the curb with your normal household refuse for disposal through mid-January.

All city offices in Bloomfield Hills will be closed Tuesday, Dec. 31 and Wednesday, Jan. 1 to observe the New Year. The U.S. Postal Service will observe the holiday on Wednesday.

Dispatchers with both the Bloomfield Township Police Department and Bloomfield Hills Department of Public Safety will be on duty to take 911 calls for police and fire emergencies.

  • The Maple Theater, will show movies in all three theaters beginning at 11 a.m. on New Year's Day. Both Birmingham theaters will also have show times on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.
  • The Baldwin Public Library will close at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31 and will be closed on New Year's Day Wednesday, Jan. 1.  The Library will reopen to the public at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 2.
  • The Bloomfield Township Public Library will close at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31 and remain closed on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014 for New Year’s Day. The library reopens at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 2.
