Anniversary Kick-off at the Library, Music at Manresa in Bloomfield This Weekend

Feeling Groovy with 50th Anniversary Kick-off

Patrons of the Bloomfield Township Public Library will get a heavy dose of what life, and the Bloomfield community, was like when the library first opened in 1964 during the 'Feeling Groovy' celebration. Toppermost, a local Beatles-tribute band, will cap Saturday's kick-off with a live performance at 7:30 p.m.

Kids Night Out on the Farm

Visit the Bowers School Farm for fun night of activities for the kids, including a series of mini-camps, science-based projects, and engaging farm animal experiences, for children 3 and older. Drop-ff is at 6 p.m. and pick-up is at 9 p.m. Admission is $25, and the events are also planned for Feb. 8 and Feb. 15.

Home Expo to Help Kids Kicking Cancer

Hillside Furniture will host its 4th Annual Home Entertainment Expo from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. Store staff and visiting experts from the home furniture and home electronics industry will demo the latest in home entertainment furniture and electronics. Hillside is also offering 10 autographed original music and movie memorabilia items for sale during the expo. Proceeds from these items, and a portion of all weekend sales will benefit Kids Kicking Cancer.

Chamber Music at Detroit Country Day

The Chamber Music Society of Detroit will present cellist David Geringas and pianist Ian Fountain at the Seligman Performing Arts Center, in their first appearances on the CMSD series Sunday, Jan. 26 at 3 p.m.
The Seligman Performing Arts Center is located at 22305 West 13 Mile Rd. on the campus of Detroit Country Day School in Beverly Hills. Tickets are $30 - $60, and student tickets at $15 - $24, and available by at 248-855-6070 or online at www.chambermusicdetroit.org.

Cross Cultural Concert at Manresa

Manresa Jesuit Retreat House in Bloomfield Hills offers a cross cultural experience of Jewish folk music and Arabic-themed music performed by the Klezmer Fusion Band and Wisaal at 3 p.m. Sunday. p.m. An afterglow is to follow. Tickets are $25 and available at 248 644-4933.
