Jazz, Free Swimming, Farm Food and More This Weekend in Bloomfield

Jazz at the Maple

Enjoy the Dave Lundin Jazz Trio as they play "Real Jazz for Real Jazz Lovers," Friday  at 6:30 p.m. at the Maple Theater. Listen to your favorite classic jazz numbers  performed by Dave Lundin, keyboard, Keith Malinowski, acoustic bass, and Karen Tomalis, drums. 

First Grade /First Card Library Event 

First grade students can sign up for their first library card at the Baldwin Public Library from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. Saturday. Just in time for the school year, students entering first grade will learn about having their very own library card, what the library has to offer, and then receive a special gift from The Friends of the Baldwin Public Library.

Birmingham Bike Festival

Hundreds of cyclists from around the state are about to converge on downtown Birmingham for the Third Annual Birmingham Bike Festival on Sunday. The local event will have broader meaning this year as host of the the 2013 and 2014 Michigan State Criterium Championship for men. The single-day race, starts at 11 a.m. and takes riders through the heart of the city. Not a rider? No problem, spectators are encouraged. 


Free Swim

Check out what the Bloomfield Hills Swim and Tennis Club has to offer during the final free Sunday event. Throughout the month of August, the club, located Square Lake Road just east of Woodward Avenue in Bloomfield Township, opened its doors to the community to test out the 6-lane pool with a 2-board diving well, and baby pool. Return to Your Roots - Farm Fundraiser

The Friends of Bowers Farm invite the community to its first fund-raiser dinner featuring old-fashioned country fair and locally-grown food from 6-9:30 p.m.
at the Bowers School Farm in Bloomfield Township Sunday.

Award-winning Chef Rigato of The Root restaurant in White Lake will concentrate on the food while participants enjoy the the Night Shift Barber Shop Singers, twilight wagon ride and silent auction. Proceeds benefit educational programs at the Bowers School Farm.
