Brother Rice Student Helps K-9 Police Memorial Become Reality

Dedication ceremony for bronze statue memorial at West Bloomfield Police Department is Thursday.

An Eagle Scout project by the son of a West Bloomfield Police Department Officer to memorialize K-9 officers was completed last week and will be dedicated at a ceremony Thursday. Joshua Geary, a student at Bloomfield Hills Brother Rice High School, chronicled his work to achieve the elite rank through status updates and photos on a Facebook page. The project, built through the month of April with help from community donations, will be dedicated at 12 noon at an annual ceremony dedicated to American law enforcement killed in the line of duty.   Following are highlights from recent Bloomfield Township Police Department reports: The tires and metal rims were taken from multiple vehicles parked overnight outside different residences in the township last week. No suspect has been identified and no physical descriptions are available. The incidents reported were in the:   Detroit man arrested for stealing condoms Bloomfield Township police arrested a Detroit man who was caught allegedly stealing several items, including $250 worth of condoms from Rite Aid last week. Andre Drullatt, 47, is charged with one count of first-degree retail fraud, a felony. He remains in the Oakland County Jail on $250,000 bond, records show. Man Charged For Allegedly Assaulting, Disarming Officer at Bloomfield Jo-Ann Fabrics

Marleaux Webb allegedly injured and disarmed one officer before jumping from the second-level of the fabric store to escape. He was arrested shortly after and the officer was released from the hospital today.

  A Pontiac man faces seven felony counts for allegedly sparking a scuffle with multiple Bloomfield Township police officers at the Jo-Ann Fabrics store Tuesday evening. Marleaux Milton Webb, 24, was charged Wednesday at 48th District Court with multiple counts of assaulting and obstructing a police officer and assault with a dangerous weapon, as well as single counts of assaulting an officer resulting in injury, and disarming an officer. He remains at the Oakland County Jail without bond and is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing next week. Victim in Fatal Crash in Bloomfield Identified

Traverse City resident Theresa Dora Leone, 72, died at a local hospital Sunday afternoon. Bloomfield Township police said. The accident remains under investigation.

The Bloomfield Township Police Department today released the name of the Traverse City woman who was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Telegraph Road on Sunday. Theresa Dora Leone, 72, died from her injuries sustained in the afternoon wreck that appears to have been caused by another driver who missed a red light, Sgt. Craig Shackleford said. Officers responded to reports of the crash just north of Square Lake Road at about 1:10 p.m. and found Leone and another passenger injured a 2009 Saturn. Both were transported to an area hospital where Leone died and the other victim was admitted with serious injuries. An update on their conditions was not immediately available. UPDATE: No One Hurt After Car Drives Into Great Clips in Birmingham

Police say an elderly woman from Bloomfield Hills drove into the East Maple Road salon a little before 11 a.m. Monday.

Updated 3:30 p.m.: Birmingham Police said no one was hurt during a mid-day Monday accident at Great Clips in which an elderly woman drove into the salon's storefront on East Maple Road. According to Birmingham Police Cmdr. Terry Kiernan, the 76-year-old woman from Bloomfield Hills was pulling into an angled parking spot in front of the salon, located in the shopping plaza with Kroger and Qdoba just east of Woodward Avenue. Kiernan said the woman told police her foot slipped from the brake to the accelerator as she was pulling in, and her 2011 red Buick Lacrosse jumped the curb and went through the Great Clips window, smashing brick, glass and the metal door frame. Following are highlights from recent Bloomfield Township Police Department reports: Officers with the Bloomfield Township Police Department are investigating the theft of a water meter and copper piping from a vacant building, police reports said. Officers responded to the Penske Corp. building at 1819 Telegraph Rd. at about 12:15 p.m. April 30 after a caller reported seeing a man remove a backflow meter from the building. He was gone when police arrived. No physical description was available, but the man appeared to be about 50 years old, according to reports. Pontiac Man Suspected of Looting Metal From Bloomfield Township Business

  A Pontiac man charged with stealing metal parts off of buildings in Auburn Hills and Troy over the weekend is also suspected of similar crimes in Bloomfield Township, police said. Richard Campau, 51, was arrested Friday night by a special team of investigators from Auburn Hills, Bloomfield Township, and Troy, while trying to cut apart bleachers and basketball hoops from a shuttered school in Pontiac, the Detroit News reported. He was arraigned in 52-3 District Court in Rochester Hills Saturday on two counts of larceny and one count of possessing dangerous drugs — heroin, court records show. He remained at the Oakland County Jail Monday night on $35,000 bond. He did not have an attorney listed in court records as of Monday. Charges …

Following are highlights from recent police reports: A woman who allegedly took a purse from a shopper at the Bloomfield Township TJ Maxx last week was recently arrested in Southfield, according to police reports. Bloomfield Township police officers responded to the store at about 2:30 p.m. April 21 after a woman reported her purse was taken from her shopping cart while she was distracted. No suspect information was available. However, officers received a call from Southfield Police the following day, saying they had arrested a 37-year-old woman for a similar incident in their jurisdiction. At the time of her arrest, the woman was carrying the purse taken in the Bloomfield Township incident, reports said. The purse was returned and it was …

Bloomfield Township House Fires Still Under Investigation

Buckling floor and collapsed ceiling prevented firefighters from interior attack at Wagon Wheel home on Sunday.

  Bloomfield Township fire investigators are still probing the causes of two devastating house fires that occurred close by on the township's east side just a few weeks apart. The most recent blaze started at about 7 a.m. Sunday at 4525 Wagon Wheel Dr., where firefighters found heavy smoke and fire showing as they arrived, Assistant Chief Lyal Bigger said. Firefighters entered through the front door to search for residents but had to retreat when the floor began to buckle. Bigger said they made another attempt inside the house for a possible rescue after discovering a vehicle parked in the garage. But those efforts were also stopped after the ceiling began to cave in.   Prescription drugs were stolen during the burglary of another Bloomfield Township pharmacy last week, police reports said. Bloomfield Township police officers responded to a burglar alarm at the Woodward Pharmacy just before 11 p.m. on April 14 and found the front glass door to the building shattered. The burglar entered the pharmacy suite within the building and took several bottles of prescription narcotics, according to reports. Detectives are still investigating a similar burglary at the Medical Park Pharmacy at about 4:45 a.m. on April 2. Officers also found the front glass door shattered and the security gate to the business pried open. Several bottles of prescription drugs were taken. Police have not released any physical …
