The senior captain from Bloomfield Hills followed up his state titles with Cranbrook by helping Yale to its first national crown.
Bloomfield Hills native Andrew Miller is on top of the collegiate hockey world. The captain of the Yale Bulldogs not only hoisted the NCAA Frozen Four championship trophy high above his head Saturday night following the 4-0 victory over Quinnipiac in Pittsburgh, but he skated away with the tournament's Most Outstanding Player Award. It was a fitting finish to Yale's improbable run to its first national title — in any sport. The Bulldogs were the 15th seed in the 16-team field, and knocked off their East Coast Athletic Conference rival Quinnipiac, the nation's top-ranked team that won all three contests between them earlier in the season. “I think it’s difficult to beat anyone in college hockey,” Miller said in a post-game interview with …

The senior captain from Bloomfield Hills scored the game-winner in overtime Thursday to propel the Yale Bulldogs to collegiate hockey's biggest stage.
Bloomfield Hills' Andrew Miller on Thursday ensured his stellar season continued and now has the Yale Bulldogs positioned to win the NCAA national championship following a 3-2 win over UMass Lowell Thursday. The senior captain received a bouncing puck from teammates close to center ice and accelerated wide of two opponents before flicking a backhand between the extended legs of the goalie at 6:59 in overtime for the dramatic win. His teammates immediately spilled over the barrier and mobbed him along the boards to celebrate the win that was televised on ESPN. “That’s probably the biggest goal in the history of Yale hockey,” Head Coach Keith Allain said, according to the team's website. Miller, a standout forward who helped Cranbrook to …

Cranbrook alumnus Andrew Miller leads a trio of Bloomfield-area hockey players into the NCAA Frozen Four following Yale's big wins in Grand Rapids.
Andrew Miller and two of his Yale University varsity hockey teammates had a happy homecoming this Easter weekend as the Bulldogs overcame big odds to win two games in Grand Rapids to reach the NCAA's Frozen Four. Yale, 20-12, overcame a one-goal deficit in the third period by scoring four unanswered goals in roughly five minutes to beat North Dakota 4-1 Saturday at Van Andel Arena. Miller, a standout forward who helped Cranbrook to consecutive state titles in 2006-07, helped the Bulldogs take the lead with an assist that propelled the school to its first Frozen Four since 1952. "It's a great accomplishment. It's a great accomplishment for any team," said Miller, a team captain, according to the team's website. "We have a young team, and …
