Police Make Progress in Bloomfield Township Mail Thefts

  The Bloomfield Township Police Department continues to investigate the series of mail thefts from local residences that prompted last week's alert. Though no updates were available Thursday, the department did announce an arrest on an older theft case that led to felony fraud charges.  Lacorsica Adkins, of Inkster, was arraigned Wednesday at 48th District Court on one count of uttering and publishing stemming from a theft reported in 2011, reports said. Adkins, 21, turned herself in to authorities on Wednesday after a warrant was issued for her arrest amid a long-term fraud investigation.  Reports indicate Adkins allegedly cashed a check belonging to a township resident fraudulently at a Comerica Bank in Warren in August. Police Blotter: Residential Burglaries and Identity Theft

  Alarm scares off intruder Officers with the Bloomfield Hills Department of Public Safety responded to a burglar alarm in the 400 block of Dunston Road at abut 4:30 p.m. last Sunday, according to reports. The first officer on the scene reported fresh tire and foot tracks in the new snow by the front driveway. Reports said he followed the tracks to the back of hte home and found a broken window. Entry was gained and more tracks were found by an open backdoor. The resident was notified and reported nothing missing after returning home. No suspect information was available. "The alarm being set by the homeowner and activated by the suspect minimized the loss to the homeowner," Chief Richard Matott said. Resident discovers fraudulent credit …

Police Blotter: Arrest Made in Check Fraud; Investigations Continue in Other Identity Theft Cases

Officers with the Bloomfield Hills Department of Public Safety arrested a Pontiac man whom they say tried to cash a fraudulent check at a bank last week. The 21-year-old man was arrested without incident outside the Charter One Bank along Woodward Avenue at about 11 a.m. Nov. 10, police reports said. He was released after processing at the Police Department and remains free while the case is under review at the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office. Officers were called to the bank by an employee who discovered that the bank’s security system confirmed the check was bogus, a report said. The suspect remained in the bank and was standing at the teller window when officers arrived, the report said. He could not explain how he was in possession …
