Andover Road Getting A Facelift; What Should Be Next?

Bloomfield Township will close and resurface Andover Road off of Telegraph this summer. What road is in worse shape?

  A street connecting the Bloomfield Township municipal center, Andover High School and the Bloomfield Hills Schools Administration Offices to Telegraph Road is getting a facelift. Andover Road, which connects with Telegraph just south of the Bloomfield Township municipal center and the 48th District Court, will be closed from Exeter Road for resurfacing beginning in late June. It will be the first major work on the roadway since it was built in 1981, and the project will likely last two months, said Wayne Domine, the township's director of engineering and environment. City Commission Approves Some Road Repairs for 2012

Construction on Epping Lane and Kensington South will begin next summer, but other improvements may have to wait until economy improves.

Bloomfield Hills residents will see road repair and reconstruction work on two city streets next summer, but decisions on other roads will have to wait until later. Bloomfield Hills City Commissioners on Tuesday voted unanimously to repair Epping Lane and Kensington South in 2012. Work on Orchard Ridge will be done in later years and the Chestnut and Manorwood projects will simply have to wait. The city has about $259,000 from a .35 mill annual road improvement fund and improvements to Epping Lane were already budgeted this year. There are some funds left over from last year's road projects, as well, documents show.
