Mike McCready Wins GOP Primary for 40th District in State House

The Bloomfield Hills City Commissioner rose above a crowded field to win with 32 percent of the vote in the Aug. 7 primary. Democrat Dorian Coston awaits in November.

  There were several anxious moments while waiting for results to trickle in, but Mike McCready kept cool-headed and focused on being the next Republican to represent voters in the 40th District in Lansing. Much like he had for the better part of three months. McCready was rewarded early this morning when unofficial results from the Oakland County Clerk's Office showed he won the district bridging Bloomfield, West Bloomfield and Birmingham with 32 percent of the vote over three formidable opponents. County Commissioner and Birmingham-based attorney David Potts and West Bloomfield attorney David Wolkinson finished in a virtual tie for second with 29.8 percent, and Birmingham Board of Education Trustee Robert Lawrence rounded out the field …

During the countdown to the Aug. 7 primary, Patch is bringing you profiles of the candidates running for local office.

The Aug. 7 primary election is drawing closer every day, but how much do you really know about the names on the ballot? Patch is interviewing candidates running in the Aug. 7 primary, including the four candidates vying to be on the Republican ticket for the 40th District's seat in the Michigan House of Representatives. The seat is currently filled by Rep. Chuck Moss (R-Birmingham), who is unable to run for re-election this year due to term limits (though Moss is looking to run for Sen. John Pappageorge's seat in 2014). After redistricting, the 40th district will be composed of Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills, Bloomfield Township, and a portion of West Bloomfield. I like McCready. He too is a fresh face but he brings 5v years of City Management (as commisioner and Mayor ) to Lansing. I like Wilkson too but I want him to get elected to a public office before he is my rep in Lansing. I see him as a definite asset to West Bloomfield City Hall   more ›
