The Friends of Preservation Bloomfield raised more than $2,300 for restoration of the Barton Farm House and other local historic preservation efforts at their annual barn and gazebo "Treasure" sale at the Bowers Farm last weekend. It was the most successful treasure sale for the organization yet under the leadership of Bloomfield Hills resident Mary Lou Kopmeyer, and bodes well for another sale next year, said volunteer organizer Pat Hardy, a Bloomfield Hills city commissioner. The leftover items were all donated to the upcoming St. Hugo’s of Hills 43rd Annual Altar Guild Rummage Sale later this month. Bakers wowed participants at the annual fundraiser for Preservation Bloomfield at Oakland Hills Country Club.
More than 200 of the Bloomfield area's most passionate and ardent supporters got into the holiday spirit while raising funds for historic preservation at the fourth annual Gingerbread House Brunch at the Oakland Hills Country Club on Friday. The event showcased dozens of local bakers whose elaborate creations astonished the crowd and built excitement for the holidays. The gingerbread houses, cakes and other centerpieces were auctioned off with proceeds benefiting restoration of the historic Barton Farmhouse. A few of the auctioned items were donated to local charities and hospitals.
