Sean Flynn is a freelance writer from Southeast Michigan. He earned his B.A. in journalism from Wayne State University, in downtown Detroit, writing for the school newspaper, The South End, and interning at The Oakland Press (a mid-sized daily newspaper) and DBusiness Magazine (a Detroit business journal) along the way. He is currently a stay-at-home dad, though he spent the majority of the past ten years toiling away in the restaurant industry.

He broke into the business shortly after enrolling in culinary school at nearby Schoolcraft College, taking a position as a cook at Papa Vino's Italian Kitchen. Five years later, after abandoning his culinary career to pursue journalism at Wayne State University, he took a job at Bravo! Cucina italiana, shifting roles to the front-of-the-house (the service aspects of the business). He waited tables and tended bar over the next few years at Bravo!, and at Plymouth's Station 885, where he met his future wife, Corinne.

About a year later he shifted gears (yet again), joining the conference center at The Inn at St. John's, also in Plymouth, where he served and tended bar for weddings and corportate functions. After two years, he move on, parlaying his experiences at the ritzy hotel and banquet center into an management positon, joining the staff of Shennandoah Country Club, in West Bloomfield. Recruited by a former boss of his at The Inn at St. John's, who was running the banquet center at Shenandoah, Sean became a banquet captain, supervising club events.

He eventually decided to take a step back from the business, after he and his wife married, so that he could care for his kids while his wife pursued her career as a nurse. He now writes part time, aspiring to establish himself in the food and travel realm of the business. He enjoys dark beers and fine wines, draws his inpiration from writers like Jon Krakauer and Mark Bowden, and enjoys winding down to soothing tones of Van Morrison.

His hero is Anthony Bourdain -- the Hunter S. Thompson of food writing: Chef, writer, and general nomad, Bourdain takes viewers of his weekly Travel Channel show, No Reservations, around the world in search of its most overlooked and underrated cuisines. In pursuit of emulating Bourdain's lifestyle, and all of his writing endeavors, Sean also authors two blogs: www.nolongerprologue.blogspot.com and www.theomnivoresoutpost.blogspot.com.
