Bloomfield Resident Among New DIA Board Members

The Detroit Institute of Arts named Jennifer Fischer to its board of directors as part of an agreement following the August millage.

In return for this financial support, residents and school groups from the three counties that supported the millage receive free admission to the museum for the next decade.

As part of the millage, the institute authorities established in each county appointed two members to the board. Hubert Massey and Amy DeBrunner represent Wayne County; Lillian Demas and Donald Ritzenhein represent Macomb county; and Thomas Guastello of Birmingham joins Fischer in Oakland County.

Fischer currently serves on the Oakland County Art Institute Authority and the boards of the Detroit Zoological Society, Detroit Symphony Orchestra and Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit. Her background in marketing contributed to the success of many DIA fundraising events, including the 2007 Arts Alive! Gala, according to a news release.

Also joining the board are Andrea Dickson, Antoine Garibaldi, Mary Kramer, Linda Orlans and Irvin Reid. Re-elected to the board from Bloomfield Hills are Nicole Eisenberg and Sandra Seligman, Meryl Podolsky.

They join incumbent members Mary Ann Gorlin, Reuben Munday, Rhonda Welburn and Henry Wineman of Birmingham. Other long-time board members were elected to emeritus status: Andrew L. Camden, Elaine C. Driker, David E. Meador, John W. Stroh III and Amanda Van Dusen.
