UPDATED: Schools in Bloomfield Hills Closed Tuesday Due To Frigid Weather

This is the second straight week with at least one snow day, and Tuesday will be the 5th snow day of the month.

Students in the Bloomfield Hills Schools and area private schools will not be in session Tuesday as temperatures are expected to dip to potentially dangerous levels.

The National Weather Service upgraded a wind chill advisory watch to a warning Monday afternoon in anticipation of a blast of Arctic air that will blanket the region for several days. District officials announced the closure shortly after 3 p.m. Monday. It is the second straight week with at least one snow day, and Tuesday will be the 5th snow day of the month.

Temperatures will remain in the single digits today and are expected to drop sharply after sundown, according to the forecast. Combined with steady winds expected to be between 10-15 mph, the wind chill could reach 30-35 degrees below zero.

The wind chill warning expires Wednesday.
