Man Arrested For Interfering With Traffic Stop in Bloomfield Hills

The Bloomfield Hills Department of Public Safety provided this information based on police reports from the past week.

Officers with the Bloomfield Hills Department of Public Safety arrested a Warren man for trying to intervene in a traffic stop involving a friend suspected of drunken driving last week, reports said.

An officer stopped a vehicle on suspicion of a drunken driver in the area of Woodward Avenue and Bloomfield Hills Parkway at about 3:20 a.m. on May 25. During the traffic stop, another motorist stopped his vehicle in the parking lot the vehicles were in and tried to intervene on behalf of the suspected drunk driver. The 37-year-old Warren man told police the female motorist was a friend of his, and despite several requests from the officer to leave, attempted to get past the officer to contact the alleged drunken driver.

The officer arrested the man for hindering and obstructing police and the case is pending in the 48th District Court.

He also arrested the 30-year old female driver for operating while intoxicated, and released her on bond upon sobering up. A court date is pending, reports said.
