Man Robbed At Gunpoint During PlayStation 4 Sale Arranged on Craigslist

Authorities urge residents to be cautious of meetings arranged online and encourage use of public places — even police departments.

A Pontiac man who planned to purchase a PlayStation 4 from someone he found on Craigslist was robbed at gunpoint in Bloomfield Township on Tuesday, police said.

The victim, in his mid-30's, told detectives with the Bloomfield Township Police Department that he went to the Best Buy parking lot on Telegraph Road shortly after 2 a.m. to meet someone selling the new video game system, reports said. The other man arrived, pulled a handgun and demanded his cash.

The victim was not injured.

The suspect was described as a black male in his 20’s, about 5-feet-10, and between 180-190 lbs, with short curly hair with sideburns and a thin goatee.
He wore a gray winter coat with a distinctive white “E” on the left breast.
Reports said he was last seen headed toward Telegraph Road in a black Chrysler PT Cruiser with tinted windows.

Detectives encouraged people making deals online to meet in a public area, even police department parking lots.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the department at 248-433-7752.
