Multiple Vehicle Break-ins Reported in Bloomfield Township

The Bloomfield Township police encourage residents to park vehicles in garages and take valuables indoors.

The Bloomfield Township Police Department warned residents to lock their vehicles and take extra precautions with valuables typically left in cars after taking numerous break-in reports this week.

Officers took reports from nine different vehicle owners on Lancaster and surrounding streets on Oct. 15. All nine vehicles were unlocked and ransacked sometime between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m., reports said. Cash or coins were reported stolen.

"The Bloomfield Township Police encourage residents to place their vehicles in their garages or at least lock the doors during the overnight hours," the department noted on its Facebook page.

No suspect information was available, and the investigation is ongoing.

Similar incidents were reported in Birmingham and Royal Oak, authorities said.

Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to call the department at 248-433-7752.
