Falcons, Rain Dampen Bloomfield Hills High School Season Opener

The Bloomfield Hills High School season opener was cut short by Friday's thunderstorms; second half resumes Saturday at 11 a.m.

The Bloomfield Hills Black Hawks and their fans will look for a fresh start to the football season opener when play resumes today at 11 a.m. at Dauch Field.

The threat of rain and looming thunderstorms appeared to be the only thing slowing down their opponent, Birmingham Groves, which jumped out to a 34-13 lead at halftime by executing on offense, defense and special teams.

The Black Hawks surrendered a touchdown on the first play from scrimmage, and gave up a total of 28 points in the second quarter. Quarterback Spencer McCourt closed the gap with a touchdown pass to Xavier Reynolds with just 10 seconds remaining in the half, but the weather delay prevented any momentum from carrying over.
